Opportunities for fellowships from the Dutch government

Researchers who have recently completed their Ph.D. and want to perform research in Leiden on a topic of shared interest may consider applying for a fellowship to work in our group. From the Dutch government, two types of fellowships are available:

The VENI grant: This grant is for three years. It will cover 3 years of salary + some extra 30 kEuro for other expenses. More info is on the webpage, where you can also ask for a Dutch or an English brochure, by email (see the webpage). The fellowship is open to researchers of all nationalities.

The VIDI grant: Vidi is aimed at the excellent researcher who following his/her PhD has carried out several years of research and in doing this has demonstrated the ability to independently generate and effect innovative ideas. Researchers who have obtained their PhD within the last 8 years can apply for a Vidi grant. There may be a possibility of an extension in some cases. This grant is for five years. It will cover the salary of 2-3 junior researchers (Ph.D. students or post-docs) that you will be able to hire, and you will typically be able to spend some money on equipment as well. More info is on the webpage, where you can also download a Dutch or an English brochure. The fellowship is open to researchers of all nationalities.

The Rubicon grant: This grant is for one year. This grant also offers the opportunity to work on a subject of your own choice, as long as it coincides with the interest of the group you would be working with. The fellowship is open to researchers of all nationalities other than Dutch.
